Cost per square foot

A square-foot number is only meaningful after scope is defined. Kit $/sq ft and finished-building $/sq ft are different measurements. Read the framework.

Regional factors

BarnCost can apply metro, then state, then national factors — but only when those factors exist as sourced data. Sparse legitimate regional data is preferable to a fake 50-state table.

FAQ

How much does a pole barn cost?
It depends on size, location, scope, and features. A kit is not an installed building, and a shell is not a finished shop. BarnCost estimates a range from documented components once that data is loaded — it does not publish a single national average as if it were a quote.
What is the difference between kit, installed shell, and turnkey?
A DIY kit is materials/package pricing. An installed shell is the structural building erected. Turnkey / finished is a more complete project with selected features such as slab, insulation, and electrical. BarnCost never averages those scopes together.
Does BarnCost include site work and permits?
Those are separate components. They appear in installed and turnkey estimates only when documented unit costs exist. Unusual excavation, long utility runs, and local fee variance remain exclusions.
